No Parking on Street During Snow Removal

Friendly Winter Reminder ❄️
By Chester Township ordinance, vehicles may not be parked on roadways when roads are snow covered. While we’ve enjoyed a few mild winters and this may not be top of mind, keeping vehicles off the road is essential during snow events. It allows our Department of Public Works to plow and salt safely and effectively—curb to curb—for everyone’s benefit. Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our roads clear and our community safe!

A.  Removal.

(1)  Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the streets or highways, an emergency shall exist, and no vehicle shall be parked on the streets or highways or portions thereof indicated. The above parking prohibitions shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased until the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.

(2)  Any unoccupied vehicle parked or standing in violation shall be deemed a nuisance and a menace to the safe and proper regulation of traffic, and any police officer may provide for the removal of such vehicle. The owner shall pay the reasonable costs of the removal before regaining possession of the vehicle, as well as a penalty of not more than $100. [Amended 1-20-2004]
