Chester Township encompasses almost 30 square miles of land and water, much of which is preserved as Open Space, parkland, and agricultural land.
Parks include many miles of wooded hiking trails, recreational fields, and a 120-plot community garden.
Chester Township has excellent schools, including Dickerson Elementary, Bragg Elementary, Black River Middle School (a national 'School to Watch'), and two high schools in the West Morris Regional High School District (West Morris Mendham and West Morris Central). The Chester Science Fair is a renowned annual event at Black River Middle School.
Chester hosts many events including concerts, sporting events, a Fireman's Carnival, Food Festivals, Craft Fairs and more.
