Zoning/Grading Permit Review and Highlands Exemption Application
The department is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the Township’s land use, Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL). The Zoning Official reviews permit applications for new construction, additions, accessory structures, pools (inground & above ground), signage, walls, fences, generators, AC Units and similar improvements. This is to assure compliance with all relevant ordinances. The Zoning Official is responsible for the issuance of Highlands Exemptions, as the Township is located within the Highlands Council jurisdiction and is subject to the provisions of the Highlands Act. Suspected ordinance violations can be reported to the department. Department staff will work to investigate the matter and enforce it when it is appropriate.
