Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative (HAEC) Program Announcement
The Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative’s energy aggregation program will be restarting in September 2024! The program for residents first began in March 2017 and continued through December 2021. Auctions for the Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative (HAEC) energy aggregation program were held in 2021, 2022, and 2023, but the pricing received was not lower than the Basic Generation Service (BGS) rate, and the energy aggregation program remained paused. During the most recent auction for the Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative on May 22, 2024, bids received were lower than the BGS price to compare, and the energy aggregation program through the Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative can finally resume.
The award was made to IDT Energy, Inc., for a 15-month term beginning with residents’ meter reads in September 2024 and ending with meter reads after November 2025. The new program rate for the Standard Option (no additional renewable energy) is $0.1119/kWh, and the new program rate for the Green Option (100% renewable energy; residents must opt-in to this program option) is $0.1176/kWh. The JCP&L BGS price-to-compare at the time of the auction was $0.117824/kWh. Information packets containing more details about the new rate and term, outreach meeting dates, etc., were mailed to eligible residents (not already in a contract with a third-party supplier, have a net meter for solar, didn’t permanently opt-out of the energy aggregation program) in mid-July.
Beginning on July 15th, residents can opt-out of the program by returning the opt-out response card enclosed in the information packet which was mailed to their home, by calling the program’s opt-out hotline at 877-292-3904, online at https://njaggregation.us/HAEC, or by calling the programs customer care team at 866-688-5197.
Program information including a copy of the information packet, a program video, rates and term, and important program dates can be found at the HAEC program’s web page at https://njaggregation.us/HAEC. Residents are also encouraged to call the HAEC program’s energy consultants at 866-688-5197 with questions about the program.
